2008 was a great season for our club. Our 4 youngest riders (14 & under) showed great progress throughout the year. They are all looking forward to 2009. Returning riders were able to achieve their personal riding goals. Dano Barrett lead the girls winning the Minnesota Rider of the Year competition and placing an impressive 7th at the National Championship Criterium in California. In addition, she finished 10th at the National Championship Road Race. Aaron Shaw won the Juniors 15-18 Minnesota Rider of the Year competition. Colton Barrett has broken (inside joke, just ask him) on to the national scene starting with his invitation to the USA Cycling Midwest regional development camp. He was chosen to race at the premier North American Juniors event - L'abitibi. His top placement for Team Borah at L'abitibi helped him to get an invite to the Junior National talent identification camp in September 2008. Wish Colton luck and encouragement for 2009, it should be a special year for him.
MNJRC supports young people, up to age 23, who love to ride bicycles. Members come from throughout Minnesota and have a wide range of cycling skills and abilities. A group of dedicated adult volunteers guide and coach the team to meet both individual and group goals. Riders are split by age (12 to 18, 19 to 23). Members support each other with more experienced riders showing the new people the "ropes". No member is every "dropped". The group is together throughout the cycling season; training and racing to improve their physical fitness and cycling skills. Most events are located in and around the Twin Cities area. Some members, depending on ability and desire, travel throughout the State, and nationally to compete in events.
We support and encourage all types of riding including road, mountain, cyclocross and velodrome track racing. Please go to our membership page for more information |
